  • The order to ask for each document, with the dates that can already be worked out
  • One calendar file with every date you fill in, and reminders
  • Two letters already drafted: asking for the state of your file and answering a requirement, with the last day to answer
  • Twenty-five checks before you file, and nine questions to ask before you pay a lawyer
  • In English, Spanish, French and Arabic. What you type stays in your browser.

€29.00, one payment. No subscription. Access for 800 days from payment.

You pay on Stripe. The link to your File Pack arrives by email.

Ask for a refund within 14 days of payment and you get your money back, no reason needed. Refund terms

You submit your file yourself on the Ministry's site; the File Pack shows each document and each step, with the official source beside it.

1. Years of residence and the two exams

The general rule is ten years of residence. Five years are enough for refugees. Two years are enough for nationals by origin of Ibero-American countries, Andorra, the Philippines, Equatorial Guinea or Portugal, and for Sephardim. The same article lists cases that need one year; read it on the BOE page before you assume you are in one. In every case the residence has to be legal, continuous and immediately before the application.

You have to pass two exams, the DELE (level A2 at least) and the CCSE. Both are designed and run by the Instituto Cervantes. The Order says they are in person; the Royal Decree adds that they may also be run remotely in the cases the Instituto decides. Courses are not compulsory.

Orden JUS/1625/2016, art.

Years and exams for your nationality: the checker

People who already hold a DELE A2 diploma, and nationals of the twenty countries marked in the table below, are dispensed from the DELE exam. The text exempts the DELE only.

Orden JUS/1625/2016, art.

The CCSE certificate expires. It is valid for four years from the date on the certificate, so an old pass can be useless by the time you file.

Orden JUS/1625/2016, art.

Where your criminal record comes from. As a rule it must be issued by the competent body of your country of origin. In justified cases where force majeure relating to that country makes it impossible, you provide one for each country where you lived in the five years immediately before applying. For federal states (the order names Germany, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, the United States, India, Mexico, Russia and Venezuela) the certificate must cover the whole country, not one state; if no single certificate is issued, you attach those of the states where you lived in those five years.

5. After you file: requirements, the one-year limit and silence

Track your file: the one-year limit, what each step means, a reposición template

Filing online: the second surname field, Cl@ve and the 16 steps of the Ministry's form

Answer a requerimiento: your three months, a cover letter, what to check

Refused: your appeal dates and the reposición letter

What that silence does: it only opens the way to an administrative or court appeal, and the Administration still has to decide.

When to see a lawyer

  • You receive a refusal.
  • A year has passed without an answer and you do not know which appeal fits your case.
  • You receive a requirement for a document you cannot get.
  • You miss a deadline.

These are general triggers, not an assessment of your case. A lawyer should confirm what applies to you. CiviqPass does not name or recommend a lawyer.
