Criminal record certificate from Bolivia for a Spanish nationality file: who issues it and how long it stays valid
What the official pages of Bolivia and of Spain say about the criminal record certificate: who issues it, how to ask for it from Spain, cost and time where they are stated, and how long it counts for your file, with a source under every line. Reading this page is free.
Validity clock: your dates, worked out
Type a date you already have and read the date it leads to, with the official rule beside it. Nothing is stored or sent: the calculation runs in your browser. Add a date to your calendar with a reminder.
How we count
Months and years end on the same day number, or on the last day of the month if there is no such day; they start the day after the date you give. A deadline that ends on a weekend moves to the next working day. Document validity is not moved: the date shown is the last day it stays valid, even on a weekend. Days are working days unless a law says otherwise.

In short
- Criminal record: The Madrid consulate general says the REJAP certificate can be processed at Bolivian consulates abroad, in person, in an estimated 48 hours; the regulation says one year of validity, but we did not see whether the certificate prints it.
Each line sums up a section below. The sources are in that section.

1. Criminal record certificate
The Foreign Ministry's apostille page says it lists the types of documents that can be apostilled for each public service involved.[1] Under the Consejo de la Magistratura it lists a certificate of criminal records (certificado de antecedentes penales), described as a certificate for legal and administrative purposes based on the records generated in the Órgano Judicial.[2]
The Consejo de la Magistratura's REJAP regulation (Acuerdo 038/2019) describes the REJAP certificate as one that centralises and records enforceable convictions, declarations of rebeldía and orders conditionally suspending proceedings.[3]
The page of the Bolivian consulate general in Madrid says the REJAP certificate can be processed at Bolivian consular offices and sections abroad.[4] The same page lists a valid passport or identity card (or a foreigner's card for a foreigner who lived in Bolivia)[5] and appearing in person at the consular office.[6] It gives an estimated time of 48 hours.[7]
The REJAP regulation also covers a request through a legal representative (apoderado): a specific notarial power of attorney, original or legalised copy, granted by a notary and attached to the application form.[8] If the power of attorney is granted abroad, it must be endorsed (visado) by the Bolivian consulate of the "País de Origen".[9] The Madrid consulate's fee table lists a special power of attorney for REJAP at 15 $ for Bolivian citizens.[10]
The regulation sets the fee for the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales at Bs 50.[11] It says the certificate is handed over within 5 minutes through the system, or 24 hours if the applicant has antecedents.[12] The Madrid consulate's fee table lists a criminal record certificate for Bolivian citizens in Europe, Asia, Oceania, Africa and North America at 75 $[13] and for foreigners at 100 $;[14] it does not name REJAP. The only Bolivian fee we found for REJAP itself is the 2019 regulation's Bs 50.
Validity. The REJAP regulation says the certificate has a validity of one year from the date of issue.[15] Spain's order says the validity of certificates is judged by the term stated on the document itself,[16] and that a criminal record certificate with no stated term counts for six months from issue.[17] We did not see a certificate and found no official page saying whether the one-year term is printed on it: check what your certificate says, or ask the registry.
Police records. The Foreign Ministry's list also has a separate Certificado Único de Antecedentes Policiales, issued by one of FELCC, FELCN, TRANSITO, DIPROVE or FELCV.[18] Spain's order asks for the certificate of criminal records (antecedentes penales) of the country of origin, legalised and translated.[19] We found no official page saying that Spain accepts the police certificate in its place.

When to see a lawyer
- A document is refused and you do not know why.
- Your names are spelled differently in your documents.
- A required document cannot be obtained.
- You are near a deadline.
These are general triggers, not an assessment of your case. A lawyer should confirm what applies to you. CiviqPass does not name or recommend a lawyer.
