Criminal record certificate from Peru for a Spanish nationality file: who issues it and how long it stays valid
What the official pages of Peru and of Spain say about the criminal record certificate: who issues it, how to ask for it from Spain, cost and time where they are stated, and how long it counts for your file, with a source under every line. Reading this page is free.
Validity clock: your dates, worked out
Type a date you already have and read the date it leads to, with the official rule beside it. Nothing is stored or sent: the calculation runs in your browser. Add a date to your calendar with a reminder.
How we count
Months and years end on the same day number, or on the last day of the month if there is no such day; they start the day after the date you give. A deadline that ends on a weekend moves to the next working day. Document validity is not moved: the date shown is the last day it stays valid, even on a weekend. Days are working days unless a law says otherwise.

In short
- Criminal record: You can request the certificate from the Peruvian Judiciary online or at a consulate; the Judiciary says 90 calendar days and the Foreign Ministry at most three months, and the clock below shows the earlier of the two.
Each line sums up a section below. The sources are in that section.

1. Criminal record certificate
The Peruvian Judiciary's page says the Certificado de Antecedentes Penales is an official document that certifies whether a person has convictions imposed for committing an offence.[1]
The Foreign Ministry's page on getting it from abroad says you can request it at the consular offices, and describes it as a document authorised by the Registro Nacional de Condenas of Peru.[2]
The Judiciary's own page describes an online procedure. It says the electronic certificate is a PDF signed digitally by the Judiciary and has the same validity as the certificate processed at the Judiciary's offices.[3] The fee on that page is S/ 40.40.[4]
Two consulates in Spain mention that digital route. The Barcelona page says you can request the document through the Judiciary's digital service and apostille it in the Foreign Ministry's digital service.[5] The Bilbao page says you can get the digital certificate immediately by requesting it on the Judiciary's digital platform.[6]
The consulates also issue the certificate themselves, and their pages differ. Madrid's page lists residence in Madrid, Castilla-La Mancha or Extremadura among its requirements,[7] shows a total of € 25.00[8] and says you get an email about the state of your request within a maximum of 10 days.[9] For the in-person route, Barcelona's page says to pay 25 consular soles (€ 25.00 at the tariff value).[10] For the online route, it says you receive the document after 15 working days by the Spanish calendar.[11]
Validity. The Judiciary's page says the certificate has a validity of 90 calendar days.[12] The Foreign Ministry's page for people abroad says a maximum validity of three months from the date of issue.[13] Spain's order says all documents must be in force when you apply, and that a criminal record with no stated validity counts for six months from issue.[14][15] The Peruvian issuers do state a validity. If your certificate prints a term, Spain's order says that term applies;[16] the clock below shows the earlier of the two Peruvian limits.[17][18]
Three different certificates. The prison service page describes the certificate of antecedentes judiciales as one that certifies whether a person has judicial and administrative documents registered in the penitentiary system, and says it is valid for 90 calendar days.[19][20] The Police page describes the certificate of antecedentes policiales (CERAP) as one that shows whether you have police records; we found no validity on that page.[21] Spain asks for the certificado de antecedentes penales.[22] We found no Spanish text saying whether either of the other two is accepted instead: ask the registry.
Spain asks for the criminal record certificate of the country of origin, legalised and translated, and says that as a rule it must be issued by the competent body of that country.[23][24]

When to see a lawyer
- A document is refused and you do not know why.
- Your names are spelled differently in your documents.
- A required document cannot be obtained.
- You are near a deadline.
These are general triggers, not an assessment of your case. A lawyer should confirm what applies to you. CiviqPass does not name or recommend a lawyer.
